Registered Nurse Careers - 5 Must Have Qualities For Success

Being a registered nurse, is one of the noble professions, which allows a nurse to experience humanity from close quarters. They monitor the performance of a LPN, but most importantly they ensure that a patient's effort in battling an illness is smooth. To be successful in registered nurse careers, a RN should have the below mentioned qualities.

nursery rocking chair

- Don't think too much about money, as it would come - With registered nurse careers, you would find that more qualified you are, the more you earn. With the Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting the average salary of nurses to be in the range of ,000-,000 and the top 20% of nurses earning much more, money is not a constraint at all.

NURSE

- Learn and unlearn all the time - A RN would surely have been a LPN at some point of time. It is important that a RN, in addition to learning new things, also passes on the knowledge and valuable experience to a LPN. This will not only allow the RN to learn new things in her professional life, but it would also enrich the LPN with some pointers.

- The patient's stay in the hospital or the clinic has to be more than satisfactory - In a recent statistics released by a leading healthcare magazine, it was found that about 20% RNs did not pay attention to this goal. For a nurse to be successful in whatever role executed, it is important to think of the patient first. All else probably comes secondary.

- Willingness to work long hours - As a LPN, the nurse would have probably worked ten hours a day for 5 days a week. If the nurse wishes to be successful in registered nurse careers, she should be willing to put in the same amount of hours, even when she is a RN. A change in role only means added responsibilities, at least in the domain of nursing.

- Always think ahead - Thinking that a nurse could be a RN all her life is a classic recipient for failure. A RN should always think how much more she can learn. For example, if a nurse can study to become an Advanced Practice Nurse, she could handle even higher responsibilities and command a higher pay too.

Simply put, to be successful in registered nurse careers, RNs don't have to do a lot. Any nurse entering the domain of healthcare probably knows all of this by now. It is just time for some reinforcement.

Christiano Ronaldo Fit And Raring To Start The Next Premiership Season With Man Utd

Manchester United star Portuguese midfielder Christiano Ronaldo says he is raring to go and is as fit as ever ahead of the start of the 2007/2008 Premiership football season as Man Utd prepare their defence of the Premiership title.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made many big signings ahead of the new season, strengthening the squad somewhat with the acquisitions of Anderson, Nani, Owen Hargreaves and (eventually hopefully) Carlos Tevez.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

When asked about the new signings Ronaldo stated that they are all fantastic signings, they will be great for the club and the team - and that he hopes they never leave.

Cristiano Ronaldo meanwhile has been in terrific form at the start of the pre-season, with many dazzling performances on Utd's 4 day tour of the Far East. Sir Alex Ferguson will surely be a lot happier with the progress the players have made fitness wise this pre-season, after having to endure many of his star players performing tirelessly at least seasons World Cup finals in Germany.

This season around the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo and co will all be fully prepared for the coming up season, after admitting last season that they started feeling the effects of a prolonged season last time around.

Manchester United will be facing nearest rivals Chelsea on Sunday in the Charity Shield football match at Wembley, and the weekend after they will open their Premiership account with a home match against last seasons surprise package Reading.

Ronaldo can't wait for the new season to begin, and is already looking to build upon the success of last year - which has already seen him crowned PFA Young Player and PFA Player's Player Of The Year.

"Things are going very good for me," Cristiano Ronaldo told MUTV. "I feel fit and I'm very happy with the way our preparations have gone so far. But I must keep my form going. The Premier League starts soon and I must be ready for that. I hope to play well. My ambition is still the same - I want to play well, score goals and provide assists. I tried to do the same last year and I worked hard to do that. I hope things come good for me."

It remains to be seen how Cristiano Ronaldo can really improve on his performances last season around, but with just a few weeks away from the kick off of the new Premiership season we can't wait to see how the new-look Manchester United team performs, and whether Christiano Ronaldo can really build on his success of last season.

The Truth About Writing a Bestseller

Can you write a bestselling book on the first try? The odds are naturally against your duplicating the success of a Jaws, The Godfather, or Thorn Birds, but let's be clear about it. It can be done. Just don't count on it.

nurse jackie season one

Jacqueline Susann turned out at least a mini bestseller on her first try. The book about her dog was Every Night, Josephine. It was a worthy first effort and hinted at better things to come. The important thing was that author Jackie kept writing, in between her acting and modeling assignments. She decided that she knew the world of television, movies, and Madison Avenue advertising well, certainly far better than most. She had a clear knowledge of how the people of these worlds lived and what their lives behind the scenes were really like..

NURSE JACKIE

One day Jackie sat down and started a book that was destined to make publishing history--Valley of the Dolls. By the spring of that year, 1969, her book had sold about ten million copies in paperback. The paperback reprint rights were sold to Bantam for 5,000. Years later sales eventually passed 25 million copies.

Jackie worked hard on her books. She believed that bestsellers require more than a few months of work. She spent two years on Valley of the Dolls and more years turning out Once Is Not Enough, The Love Machine, and Dolores.

So look at it this way. You have the chance to produce a bestseller on your very first try. If you fall short of your goal, you may well have at least a mini best seller. If not, then your first book--however many copies it sells--can pave the way for a bestseller on your second or third try.

I think Jackie Susann is an inspiring example of an author because she took her writing seriously. She believed that a bestseller takes time, and that does not mean a few months. I want to be quick here to banish from your mind the idea that one must be a genius to write a bestseller. It just isn't true. The following realities should encourage you. Get them clear in your mind:

1. Not many really good books are published each year generally speaking.

2. A bestseller can cover any one of a variety of subjects.

3. Being older will never prevent authors from turning out bestsellers. Many bestsellers have been written by people over fifty, the sixties, and beyond. Ladies of the Club, an enormous bestseller, was written by a woman in a nursing home in her nineties. She wrote her book very slowly over a number of decades and lived to see it become a huge bestseller and make publishing history.

4. Imaginative publicity and promotion are often what turn a book into a bestseller.

Subjects for Bestsellers

Bestselling books have been written on a variety of subjects including (just to name a few) cooking, sex, all kinds of physical fitness topics, the pursuit of happiness, money-making, investments, the business world, godfathers, family sagas, romances, and many others.

One good example of a bestseller is a book that was called Jogging. In only four short months, the book sold 275,000 copies. The fact that jogging had become a national craze and hot subject (at that time) added a great deal of extra appeal to the book. The point here is that timing for a book can be very important. The JOGGING book shows that picking the right subject can give your book a stronger chance to become a bestseller. You can learn to be clever at choosing subjects for your books.

When The Complete Book of Running came out, the author, James Fixx, a daily runner himself, thought it would sell about 30,000 copies. The timing could not have been more perfect with the increasing popularity of jogging. When James got his first royalty check for his book he could not believe it and was not sure his bank would. His first royalty check was 0,000. Remember this. That was an exceptional lucky story for one author, but I think it reveals how fortunate the time a book comes out can be. If the book subject happens to be in the national, or international spotlight, the author may well hit the jackpot.

So keep the above information in mind and simply be assured that a bestseller can be written on the first try. The odds may be against it, but some new authors have hit real home runs on their first times at bat. Maybe you, a relative, or friend will actually do it too, but you have to write the book first. May these truths about writing a bestseller inspire you to step up to the publishing plate and knock the ball out of the park. Go for it.

Who Will Win the Premier League This Year?

Who will win the Premier League is the big question everyone's been asking. The three giants of this season who everyone thinks will come face to face for the trophy are Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. The trophy will go to one only, but these three are the most obvious contenders this season. The progress so far shows that 19 time league winners Manchester United are at the top of the list as predicted by many. With players like Wayne Rooney who has been scoring hat-tricks this season, the Red Devils might be in line for their 20th title this season. The most successful football club in English football, Manchester United is the world's most valuable football club with a worth of £1.13 billion. The club has won not only Premier League titles, but also the European cup, the UEFA cup, the Intercontinental cup and also 53 domestic trophies. Manchester United fans await the day to buy Manchester United ticketsfor the finals.

Manchester City has been giving their best in the game too. With Owen Hargreaves the former Manchester United player on their team, they have a very good chance of winning the league this year. Hargreaves and Manchester City have proven to be lucky for each other. After struggling with injuries for three years, Hargreaves finally got a good start with City and his goals led them to a victory against the Blackburn. The Citizens have faced a period of decline after the 1981 FA cup final and it eventually led to their relegation in the year 1997. In 2001, with a new chairman introducing the team to fiscal discipline, this resulted in victory but recovering required more effort and wins as the Citizens were relegated once more in 2001. But with Kevin Keegan as their new manager, they won the 2001-02 Division one championship with record breaking points which began an era of victories for the Citizens.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Chelsea has been playing well too. With third position on the contenders list of the Premier League trophy, Chelsea has a good chance of being the winner this season. They lost to Manchester United in what was their first loss in the League season up till now. With 10 points and a few feet away from glory, Chelsea will have to work hard on their way to the top, as Manchester United and Manchester City are not easy to beat. The Blues of West London have been English Champions four times. The past decade proved Chelsea as one of the best teams in the history of football. Chelsea has won the Premier League title thrice and in 2010, they were the League champions. If it was in control of the fans they would have bought all Chelsea Tickets even before the time came.

All three teams will have to crush each other to make their way towards the trophy. It might be possible that some other team wins the title, but for now these three seem to be everyone's favorites.

A naughty nurse outfit leaves nothing to imagination, when it comes to raising temperatures around you. A perfect choice for Halloween - you can just picture them falling over themselves when you come around trick or treating - or for a dress-up party. When it comes to Halloween, costumes do not necessarily have to be scary. When it comes down to it, you can always be the 'treat.'

Naughty Nurse Costumes and Medical Implements

While the ubiquitous stethoscope is ever present as a prop or accessory, there really is no reason a naughty nurse should be limited to this ancient cliche. You can always work up to variations on this theme, such as a thermometer and a clipboard with a chart for marking up your patients' temperature. Of course, given the naughty outfit, your patient can be excused for having an abnormally high temperature.

Improvised implements can also serve the purpose just as well. You could easily strap a blood-pressure cuff around your partner's arm and check their pressure. Here again, you can expect unusually high blood pressure, maybe even find it rising.

Naughty Nurse Costumes Are Getting Naughtier

Other than the clearly visible indicators of the nursing profession such as the armbands, nurse's cap and stethoscope, nurse outfits come in a range of cuts, styles and sizes. Ensure that you pair your costume with a slinky pair of high heels (black is ideal) to accentuate your legs.

Nurse costumes are a perennial favourite when it comes to adult role playing games. The costumes themselves are low cut and have skin-tight or figure-hugging contours. Naughty nurse costumes come in all kinds of variants, such as:

* Check-up nurse

* School nurse

* Bedside nurse

* Army nurse

* First-aid nurse

* Gothic nurse

* Nurse Scrubs

* Dark nurse

* Gothic nurse

Even if you are a plus size, these costumes can be quite flattering to your looks. What matters most is if you have the confidence and feel good enough about yourself to show off your assets and assert your sexuality.

Premier League Preview - Liverpool Plays Manchester United

Liverpool entertains Manchester United at Anfield this weekend and they hope to become the first team this season to defeat the current Premier League champions. The new look Liverpool side have spent heavily in the transfer market in the last few months as they look to bridge the gulf that has developed between the two clubs in recent years in terms of trophy success.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Since the return of Kenny Dalglish as manager there has been a marked improvement on the field, but early season defeats at the hands of Stoke City and then Tottenham Hotspur has left Liverpool six points adrift of their arch rivals. The importance of this early season meeting is already clear as a defeat would leave Liverpool nine points behind the champions, while a victory will close the gap to just three points.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

The Merseysiders have beaten United in their last three home encounters in the Premier League which should give them a psychological boost before the game, and despite unconvincing victories against Wolves and Everton, victory in this game could send the Reds confidence soaring, as they attempt to make an impression in this seasons title race.

A Dirk Kuyt hat trick sealed Manchester's fate in the last Premier League encounter at Anfield as the y ran out 3-1 winners and Liverpool will look to new hero Luis Suarez who set up all three goals on that occasion to provide the much needed impetus for the match between these two footballing giants.

The two clubs have won 118 honours between them, 58 for Liverpool and 60 for Manchester United, while the Red Devils have just edged the number of English Championships by 19 to 18, Liverpool still hold the impressive five European Cup successes compared to United's three European trophies.

Liverpool signings Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Jose Enrique could all feature in their first game between the two clubs, while captain Steven Gerrard is unlikely to be risked from the start as he continues his return to full fitness following a long injury layoff.

Despite the champions scoring an impressive 24 goals in their opening seven Premier League games, there is speculation that they have defence frailties which were exposed against Chelsea and again against Basel in the Champions League 3-3 draw at Old Trafford, something Liverpool will look to exploit.

A key to United's overwhelming successes in recent seasons is their strength in depth and this is a situation that Liverpool have addressed with their pre-season signings with their improved squad the Reds could certainly make an impression on the Premier League this season, and this is a great opportunity to take three points off their rivals.

Nursing Home Care - An Overview of Nursing Homes in America

Nursing home centers (also known as skilled nursing facilities) have come a long way over the past few decades. Although they're still not perfect by any means, nursing homes today are much improved over their predecessors. In the 1950's and 1960's, nursing homes (or old folks homes as they were often referred to as) were scary places for senior citizens. Today that trend is changing. Although nursing homes can still be scary, today there is significantly more federal and state oversight of nursing homes. All nursing homes must meet certain requirements, such as having a nurse on staff 24-hours a day, seven days per week in order to keep their doors open and have to meet all sorts of requirements in order to qualify for Medicaid, Medicare and other government funding programs.

nurse jackie season 1

Nursing homes are generally for two categories of individuals. The first class are the individuals who need assistance in their daily living activities. This means they can not care for themselves on their own day-in and day-out. They need help with one or more activities like preparing meals, bathing, going to the bathroom, getting dressed and so on. Although a large percentage of this group is made up of older people, there are also many younger people who have physical or mental disabilities and cannot care for themselves. The second category of individuals that normally reside in nursing homes are those individuals who need short term care. These individuals include people who are recovering from injuries, surgeries and other situations where they just need a little help to get back on their feet. These people tend to live in the rehab wings of nursing homes.

NURSE JACKIE

Nursing homes are not cheap. Depending on the part of the country, nursing home costs can range anywhere from ,000 per month to as high as ,000 per month and higher. These high costs force many people to look for payment and funding alternatives. Government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid help with nursing home fees. Other private options like long term care insurance programs can help as well.

If you are faced with placing a friend, family member or loved one into the care of a nursing home you should research carefully to determine the best place. Talk to people at church, a family physician or other people you respect. Chances are, someone you know has had to research nursing homes and may know of a good one to refer you to. If you do not get good referrals from people you know, a simple Google search can provide a lot of data. Carefully research each option and make sure you tour the facility before you make a final decision.

Nursing Home Neglect - What to Do if You Suspect Negligence in a Nursing Home

Sadly, nursing home neglect is not uncommon. Even the best nursing homes can hire someone who shouldn't be caring for patients, while other nursing homes don't provide or expect the appropriate training for their care attendants. Learning to recognize the signs of neglect...and then doing something about it...is essential if you want to protect your family members.

nurse jackie season 2

Because many nursing home patients cannot communicate, you need to be able to recognize the symptoms of neglect, including both physical and medical neglect.

NURSE JACKIE

One of the most obvious signs of nursing home neglect is a failure for care providers to assist in personal hygiene, including unsanitary or unclean conditions. If you would not want to live in the conditions you find your family member in, you need to make a complaint and let the nursing home management know that the conditions you see are not acceptable.

If your family member is not bedridden, you also need to make sure they are protected from health and safety hazards. As an example, if they have a mobility problem, there should not only be grab bars in the bathroom, but also assistive devices to help them get out of bed, out of their chair, and so forth.

Sometimes neglect is harder to detect. For example, your family member may have developed bedsores. In almost all cases, bedsores can be prevented by frequently turning the patient, and you should be concerned if your family member develops bedsores. On the other hand, sometimes bedsores occur, no matter how conscientious the caretaker.

As a result, in addition to noting how often your family member is moved to a new position, look for other things such as dehydration or wet diapers...these are indicators of neglect.

Obviously, if you are concerned about the care your family member is receiving, you can talk to the doctor in charge. However, do not get caught up in the "a doctor is a god" routine. If you are concerned about the care your family member is receiving and the doctor dismisses your concerns without giving you reasonable explanations, do not accept that. Medical neglect is no better than physical neglect...indeed, it can be worse...and poor access to decent medical services is simply not acceptable.

Should you suspect nursing home neglect of any sort, approach the nursing home administration first and express your concerns and your expectations for improvement. Should you see no improvement after having done so, then report the neglect. After all, it is a violation of both state and federal law to neglect a nursing home patient.

Reports can be made to the state health department, your state or local ombudsman for nursing home care, law enforcement, adult protective services, or a nursing home advocacy group.

One office-approved option is to go as a hospital nurse in scrubs, with a stethoscope around your neck. It's easy - you can buy a nurse costume online, or find cheap nursing scrubs at a specialty store. If you have a friend who can go as a doctor, even better.

A scary nurse costume can be a lot of fun to put together. I've seen fake blood on scrubs, zombie makeup, even someone holding a fake severed arm. Get creative and the scary nurse costume will easily come together.

A unique costume is the old time or war nurse. You can wear a crisp white smock, large nurse cap held on with bobby pins, beige stockings and comfortable shoes. If you curl your hair and wear pale makeup and red lipstick, you really capture the nursing uniforms of the time.

Or, go way back to the Civil War - think Florence Nightingale - when nurses wore long sleeved dresses (blue or black mostly) that nearly touched the ground. Over the dress Civil War nurses wore a white apron, sometimes with the Red Cross logo, and a large white hat.

First Aid: Top Ten Fantasy Baseball First Basemen for the 2012 Season

It is often said that you cannot win your fantasy baseball league without a premier player manning first base on your roster. While this may not be entirely true, you may want to consider utilizing a top pick (or keeper slot) on an elite first baseman to solidify your roster. Whether you are in a dynasty league and trying to determine your 2012 fantasy baseball keepers or just trying to get a jump on your 2012 fantasy draft, first base is a very important position. In order to determine the best value at the position, let's consider the top ten fantasy first basemen for the 2012 season:

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

1) Albert Pujols (STL) -

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

A free agent, Pujols could stay in St. Louis or land in any number of places (the Cubs are a rumoured destination). Regardless of where he plays, Pujols is the best pure hitter of his generation. Heal and ankle issues continue to plague him, but he is still the class of the position.

2) Miguel Cabrera (DET) -

Power (30 HR), run production (111 R, 105 RBI) and average (.344). What more could a fantasy owner ask for? Miggy even played through an arm muscle injury in the 2011 playoffs delivering 2 HR in his final game. He is the definition of a 'fantasy stud'.

3) Joey Votto (CIN) -

The 2010 NL MVP repeated his triple digit stats in runs and RBI in 2011 while continuing to deliver a stellar batting average (.309). Although Great American Ball Park tends to inflate some offensive stats, Votto once again excelled on the road. He also set a career high with 599 at bats.

4) Adrian Gonzalez (BOS) -

Finally escaping the confines of Petco Park, Gonzalez made a case for himself as AL MVP with a slash line of.338/.410/.548. With 77 RBI in the first half, "A-Gone" proved he is a force to be reckoned with in the Junior Circuit.

5) Prince Fielder (MIL) -

With the big spenders set at first base, it will be interesting to see where Fielder, a free agent in 2012, ends up playing. Weight and endurance issues are cause for concern in the near future but for now, Fielder delivers a combination of power and patience reminiscent of Frank Thomas in his prime.

6) Mark Teixeira (NYY) -
As well-conditioned as they come, Teixeira's power and run production have remained consistent. His average however, has slipped for 3 straight seasons with the Yankees. Although patient for a power hitter, "Tex" needs to get his batting average back to hovering around.300 to elevate himself to the top of the position.

7) Paul Konerko (CWS) -

Often undervalued, Konerko continues to put up solid offensive stats. In a season in which his teammates struggled, the White Sox first baseman battled through a calf injury which hampered him in the final 2 months of 2011. Expect him to be back to full strength in 2012.

8) Gaby Sanchez (FLA) -

After a solid 2010 rookie year which saw him net 85 RBI, Sanchez regressed somewhat in an up-and-down 2011 campaign. The subject of trade rumours, he could be in a line up which includes slugger Mike Stanton or find himself elsewhere in 2011. Either way, he is due for a bounce back season.

9) Michael Young (TEX) -

Getting displaced defensively from third to first base had no real effect on Young who delivered another solid year with 213 hits (and a.338 BA). He's done this before, with 200+ hits each season from 2003-2007, so it is fair to assume more of the same. Young provides a superb average and run production even if his home run totals tend to fluctuate.

10) Eric Hosmer (KC) -

Hosmer's productive bat drove Billy Butler to the DH role and Kila Ka'aihue to the Athletics via a trade. The Royal's rookie proved more than ready for big league pitching ahead of schedule and should be a mainstay in a resurgent KC batting order for years to come.

When considering fantasy baseball first basemen for 2012, these ten players should definitely be taken into account. Consider it "first aid" for your fantasy team.

English Premier League: The Champion of All Football Leagues

The English Premier league or in short EPL is officially known as the "Barclays Premier League" for sponsorship issues. It is actually a UK based professional football league for English clubs.
Twenty clubs compete in the English Premier league. Seasons continue from August and ends up on May. 38 games are played by each team.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

The competition began as the Football Association or in short FA Premier League on 20th February, 1992. The very first game was held on 15th August in the very same year. Few of the clubs in the First Division of the Football League took decision to break away from the Football League in order to derive benefits from a more profitable TV right contract.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Since 1888, The Football League has been arranged as the main football competition of the United Kingdom. As a matter of fact, since its inception the Premier League has turned out to be the most watched and anticipated sporting football league of the world.

It is also one of the highest and most well paid football leagues of the world. In the 2005-06 season, the cumulative club revenue was approximately .4 billion. It may well rise to as such as .8 billion in the 2007-08 season simply because of the rising media attention and revenues received from it.

The number of clubs taking part varies each year. New clubs join, older ones leave, or get merged with other club to form new clubs. On an average there are 15 clubs on an average per division. This signifies that more than 7000 clubs are the proud members of a league in the EPL.

For winning one match teams receive 3 points and for a draw 1 point. The cumulative points and the goal differences identify the ranks of the teams participating in the league. As seasons end, the club having the maximum no. of points is declared the champion. Factors like the goal difference and the no. of goals scored, decides the champion if two or more teams ends the season with equal points.

Till date only 4 out of the 40 English Premier League clubs have been able to lift the title of the premier league. The teams are the Arsenals (also known as the Gunners), Blackburn rovers, Chelsea (Men in Blue) and Manchester united (The Red Devils). The current champion of the Premier league is Chelsea. They lifted the title for the fourth time in 2009-10 season.

Chelsea FC Season Review 2010-11

After a highly successful first season under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, in which the Blues completed their first ever Premier League winners and FA Cup winners double, there were naturally high expectations for the 2010-11 season. The Blues were many peoples favourite to win the Premier League title again.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Chelsea started the season as they had finished the last, in emphatic style, as the beat West Brom 6-0 with Didier Drogba scoring a hat-trick. The Blues looked cohesive and composed and the following week they recorded another 6-0 victory away at Wigan, winning their first five consecutive Premier League games, by the end of October Chelsea had won eight of the first ten League games, including a victory against Arsenal, and they were showing great form, even at this stage, many thought they would easily retain the Premier League title they had won the season before.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Unfortunately the Blues lost their way in the November following injuries to John Terry and Frank Lampard and the many attributed their sudden loss of form to the unexpected departure of assistant coach Ray Wilkins who left the club at the beginning of November. Achieving only two victories from their next eleven games, saw Chelsea endure their worst run of form for over ten seasons, which included a 0-3 home defeat against Sunderland.

January saw the arrival of £50 million Fernando Torres from Liverpool, which became a record transfer fee for a player between two English clubs. Unfortunately it wasn't the dream move that everyone had hoped for as his poor form which he experienced at Liverpool continued at Chelsea. Torres only scored one goal and often seemed to struggle with the Blues formations and style of play, often cutting a lonely figure on the pitch.

By the time Chelsea faced Manchester United at the beginning of March they could have fallen 15 points behind the Reds in the race for the title, but a heroic second half performance saw the Blues secure a dramatic 2-1 victory. Seven wins from their next eight league games saw Chelsea make a late push for title glory, which would have secured one of the most dramatic Premier League titles in recent history. Defeat against United at Old Trafford brought their amazing run to an end and sealed their fate of finishing in second place in the league.

Chelsea were also beaten by Manchester United in the Champions League quarter finals, a defeat that effectively sealed the fate of manager Carlo Ancelotti, and he was sacked moments after the final game of the season against Everton

The Blues will now search for a new coach and look to rebuild their squad for next season and speculation on the future of some of the teams older players will also be in focus, as Chelsea will again strive for domestic honours and the elusive Champions league glory.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans - What Are Your Choices?

Living on a fixed income is challenging, to say the least. When sudden financial needs come up, like unexpected trips to the hospital or expensive new prescriptions, will financial chaos erupt? So, how do you figure out which Medicare supplement insurance, also known as "Medigap" insurance, is best for you?

nurse jackie season 2

Supplemental insurance providers are required by law to offer no more than 14 plans, with each plan covering specific expenses. Information is available for 12 standard Medicare supplement insurance plans. It's important to take your time and shop around to get the plan that is best for you, that best serves your needs.

NURSE JACKIE

You need to understand what Medicare covers so you can figure out what you need in the way of supplemental insurance coverage. Medicare costs include Part B (doctor) costs, Part B deductible, Part A (hospital) costs, Part A deductible, Part B extra charges, at home recovery, foreign travel emergency, skilled nursing home costs, prescription medication, blood work and preventive care.

Determine what you need and can afford. Coverage for a healthy individual will be different than someone with a pre-existing condition. Ask questions to clearly understand what is available and what you need. Recently something new has been offered called Medicare Advantage. These plans may or may not have a premium to pay. You can opt for the no premium plan for lesser coverage or go for the premium plan that will cover more.

When you buy a Medigap policy, you must have Medicare Part A and Part B for which you will pay .50 (in 2007) per month. Medigap insurance must follow federal and state laws which protect the consumer. The front of a Medigap policy must clearly identify it as "Medicare Supplement Insurance." Costs vary by company, but the coverage is similar.

Everyone who is eligible for Medicare also is guaranteed the right to buy a Medigap policy under certain circumstances. Spouses must buy a separate Medigap policy. For more information on Medigap policies, you may call 1l-800-633-4227 and ask for a free copy of the publication "Choosing a Medigap Policy: A Guide to Health Insurance for People With Medicare."

More information is available at your state health insurance assurance program and your state insurance department. Phone numbers for these departments and programs in each state can be found in the above publication.

nurse jackie season 3 dvd

A. J. Soprano is the only son of his father, Tony Soprano, on the HBO cable television show, The Sopranos. His character is presented as bumbling and naive throughout the course of the show, but that incapacity and unawareness of his father's crimes is an important part of his development. Unlike his sister, Meadow, A.J. doesn't do very well at school. In addition, his father wants to keep him out of the gang world, because he does not believe that he is cut out for it (and perhaps because he is worried that he will be killed).

NURSE JACKIE

A. J. is upset that his father doesn't think that he is capable, and he lives up to his father's low expectations by engaging in various forms of rebellious behavior through the first four seasons. This in turn creates more of a dilemma for Tony Soprano. If his son cannot get into college, he believes, his son will end up in the mob and likely end up dead. A.J. on the other hand, simply descends into indifference about everything.

An important character in A. J.'s life if Jackie Jr., the son of the former boss and boyfriend of his sister Meadow. Like A. J., Jackie was kept out of the mob by his father and went on to college. However, he ultimately dropped out and in a desperate attempt to get himself into the mob, got killed. Jackie Jr. foreshadows what might happen to A.J., if he is kept out of the criminal life by his father and tries to force his way in.

Ultimately, A. J. tries extremely hard to grow up, very quickly. He gets engaged to a woman named Blanca, who already has a child. He gets a job. He also does something as desperate as Jackie Jr. when he tries to kill Uncle Junior, but he is stopped before it he can do so. Eventually, all the stress of trying to grow up quickly, coupled with a lack of emotional development and a breakup with Blanca, leads him to try to commit suicide.

Afterward, A. J. slows down, and tries to enjoy being young again. He gets a job working with an associate of his father, and finds a new girlfriend. It seems that A. J. may avoid the kinds of traps that killed Jackie.

How to Make a No Sew Pillow

This is a fun craft, that requires no needles, and no sewing, so it is a perfect project to have your children to help you out with, or even make their own. What a nice surprise for a grandparent, a hand made gift.

jackie robinson jersey

So to get started let's see what we need:

JACKIE

Fabric
Pillow form
Scissors

Let's talk about the fabric you need for a moment. I use fleece for this project, just because it's so soft and snuggly. It also does not ravel, so the pillow will stay in tact and last nicely. You can also use other non fraying materials such as lycra or knit. You can use any fabric really, but the ones that don't fray will be best for durability.

Now let's talk about the measurements. You will need to choose a pillow form first, as you will be measuring your fabric off the form. You need to measure your form and then add a 4 inch allowance on all 4 sides. If your pillow form is 16 inches by 16 inches you need to get your fabric 20 X 20 inches. (it never hurts to give yourself and inch or so extra, it just means your tassles will be a little longer.)

Now on each corner cut out a 4 inch by 4 inch square. This will make your corners come out nicely.

Then go around the entire piece of fabric and cut pieces that are 1 inch by 4 inch. This is going to make your fringe. Make sure to use very sharp scissors or this will be a long and frustrating process.

Once all your fringe pieces are cut set your pillow form on top of one of your pieces, and then lay the other on top of the pillow form. Your cut pieces should line up. Now start tying together a bottom piece and a top piece. You want to tie every other one all the way around the pillow. Once you have finished then flip the pillow over and tie all the remaining fringe pieces together. Going every other one will make the pillow more even and more durable.

Once you are finished tying each of the pieces together you are done, and have a very cute no sew pillow.

Fantasy Hockey - Players Finishing Strong Last Season

One important factor to consider as you're putting the finishing touches on your draft list, is how well the players performed down the stretch last season. Consider two guys who finished last season with 48 points: Lee Stempniak stormed the castle down the stretch, racking up 14 goals in his last 19 games. Meanwhile, David Backes limped across the plate with just 10 points in his final 17 contests. While it's not a full-proof indicator of things to come, it's certainly a pattern worth considering. For this post, I'll ignore the obvious players who were strong from start to finish and focus on those who really turned it on in the last quarter, from the Olympic break on. If that momentum carries into 2010-11, these guys could be on the way up in terms of fantasy value.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Offense:

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Derek Roy(BUF) - Roy flew under the radar in 2009-10, finishing under 70 points for the season; however, he was one of the hottest players post-Olympics. He recorded 10 goals and 16 assists in his final 22 games for the Sabres. Jason Spezza(OTT) - Spezza was criticized by many for a slow start, but few noticed his late season surge. He ripped off 24 points in his final 19 games, including 8 goals. Henrik Zetterberg(DET) - While it was a down year overall again for Hank, he wrapped up the final quarter above a point per game average (22 points in 20 games). Daniel Alfredsson(OTT) - Like Spezza, Alfie came on strong for the Senators in the stretch run. He finished with 22 points in the final quarter, though most of those were assists. Peter Mueller(COL) - Mueller came alive after arriving in Colorado at the deadline. He arrived with 17 points in 54 games with Phoenix, then transformed with 9 goals and 11 assists in 15 games with the Avalanche. Lee Stempniak(PHO) - Stempniak went on an inexplicable tear after arriving in Phoenix late last year. He was scoring at a goal a game pace for several weeks. Teemu Selanne(ANA) - Despite missing considerable time earlier in the year, Selanne showed how young he is, scoring 9 goals and adding 10 assists in his final 17 games to salvage a decent season. David Krejci(BOS) - Hard to believe Krejci finished the season with just 52 points, considering he piled up nearly half of those in the stretch run. 21 points in 22 games was a good end to a bad season. John Tavares(NYI) - Crazy up and down season for the high-profile rookie ended on the good side. He wrapped up his final 20 games with 20 points. Should be a sign of what's to come for his sophomore season.

A few other guys that wrapped up the final quarter around a point-per-game pace, after starting much slower: Ryan Kesler, Eric Staal, Chris Stewart, Alex Steen, Chad LaRose, Wojtek Wolski, Kristian Huselius.

Defense:

Tom Gilbert(EDM) - Who? That's right. Tom Gilbert. Finished the season with just 31 points. 20 of those came in the final quarter. At that pace for an entire season, he would have challenged the likes of Mike Green. Not going to happen, but it's nice to dream if you're an Oilers fan. Bryan McCabe(FLA) - McCabe was average in the first 3/4 of the season, but erupted when the games stopped counting for Florida. He closed out 2010 with 17 points in his final 21 contests. Erik Karlsson(OTT) - Here is a name to note for your draft list. It took him awhile to stick with the big club, but this rookie finished the season with an impressive 14 points in 19 games for the Sens. Carlo Colaiacovo(STL) - 32 points in 67 don't really catch your eye. 14 points over his last 19 might get your attention. Dennis Wideman(FLA) - Fantasy owners who drafted him based on his 2008-09 season won't forgive him for last year, but he offered some redemption, registering 11 points in his last 22 games. Paul Martin(PIT) - He missed most of the season, but still came up with 9 points in 13 games at the end. Jamie McBain(CAR) - The rookie didn't play until the stretch drive, but open eyes with 10 points in those 14 games.

A few other guys who turned up the pace down the stretch: Alex Edler, Andy Greene, Alex Goligoski, Ian White, Brent Burns.

Goalies:

Jimmy Howard(DET) - Don't forget about the tear this guy went on last spring. He couldn't lose. He piled up 15 wins after the Olympic break to top the NHL in that span. Pekka Rinne(NAS) - Rinne inserted himself into trophy consideration with his late season heroics. He won 12 games (4 by shutout) in his final 18. Jose Theodore(WAS) - Still looking for a job for the fall of 2010, but that doesn't take away from his fabulous run in the spring of 2010. 10 wins in his last 12 starts. Antti Niemi(SJ) - Neimi didn't really claim the number 1 job in Chicago until late last season, when he garnered 3 shutouts after the break (not to mention those 16 post-season wins). Jaroslav Halak(STL) - Fans took notice when he put Slovakia on his back, then did the same for the Canadiens both leading up to and throughout the playoffs. He won 9 of his last 15 regular season games, including 2 shutouts. Jonas Gustavsson(TOR) - While it wasn't enough to earn him the starting job going into 2010-11, it's worth noting that Gustavsson won 7 of 10 games down the stretch. Cam Ward(CAR) - While last season was a write off due to injuries and total team collapse, he got into 6 games down the final run. He won 4 of them with a GAA around 2.

So which of these stories has a happy ending? Who will keep the magic alive to start the 2010 season? And who will let that streak of good fortunate die to start the new campaign?

The Racist Strike - Albert Pujols, Stan Musial and Jackie Robinson's Contract

In honor of last year's Major League Baseball All Star Game in St. Louis, Missouri, home of the St. Louis Cardinals, I thought I'd tell the tale of one of the most famous contracts of all time, Jackie Robinson's signing by the Brooklyn Dodgers to break the baseball color barrier, and the Cardinal players' planned strike that never happened, a phantom from another era.

jackie warner book

Over the broad expanse of a crimson hood, the two hallowed outfielders smiled for photographers on Opening Day of the 2009 season. Smiles on their faces, they rode a red car through the bowels of Busch Stadium and out into the light of the field's open air, waving to fans and chatting with each other as they basked in applause and each other's reflected glory.

JACKIE

Who knew this day would be possible many decades ago? It may have been hard to envision for Stan Musial, the greatest Cardinal hitter of all time, who played for the mighty Cardinals of the early 1940s, a team made up of white players, in a league full of whites, without a single black or brown skinned player to sully the supremacist ideals of the time. But today, on this Opening Day, Musial, the white skinned Pennsylvanian, rides in the car next to Albert Pujols, a brown Dominican, and the greatest Cardinal hitter since Musial. Pujols is so great that he may actually be better than Musial, as Cardinals aficionados will no doubt debate endlessly in the years to come when Pujols amasses more hits and honors in our grand expected future imaginings. But, for now, forget about the unknown future, for this day, today, provides a future we already know, a future we can surprisingly see from the strained past of 1947.

What do we see? We see Musial and Pujols smiling at each other, mugging for the cameras, praising each other's hitting prowess, Pujols querying Musial for tips on batting, Musial cracking jokes in response, as beloved as ever to the Cardinals patrons, forever their Stan "The Man." Pujols maintains such respect for Musial that he rejects the nickname, "El Hombre" (Spanish for "the man"), which the St. Louis scribes bestowed on him, saying that there is only one man, Stan Musial, and the press should not refer to any other with that appellation.

Seeing this respect, this torch, handed down from the 1947 generation to the 2009 one, must be an inspiring sight to behold from 1947 eyes. Branch Rickey, general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, had signed Jackie Robinson, who in that year took over second base and, more importantly, became the first black player in Major League Baseball. Many writers have detailed the numerous death threats, curses, slights and horrific indignities faced by Robinson, and James Giglio offers an account of the Cardinal reaction in the biography, "Musial: From Stash to Stan the Man."

Giglio called 1947 "A Troubling Year." And the troubles were many. Dixie Walker, Robinson's Dodger teammate, led the vitriol among his fellow southern players within the Dodger clubhouse. When the Dodger's star shortstop, Kentuckian Pee Wee Reese, defied this confederation by befriending Robinson, Walker's support whittled away. However, Walker knew players on other teams who felt the same. Chicago Cub starting pitchers were directed to knock Robinson down. Alabaman Ben Chapman, manager of the Phillies, encouraged his players to bean Robinson with pitches and spike him on the basepaths. It's important to note that not all southerners were unfair to Robinson, though, who recalled that Cardinals second baseman and South Carolinian Marty Marion "was always nice to me."

Many teams even considered voting as to whether or not they would be willing to play the Dodgers. Several key factors set the stage for the Cardinals' strike talk. St. Louis boasted one of the largest contingents of southern players in the National League. St. Louis was the home of Sporting News, the self-styled bible of baseball, which had previously been against integration. The Cardinals and Dodgers were two of the preeminent teams of the '40s, with a strong rivalry that generated great enmity. And the Dodger manager, Leo Durocher, previously played for the Cardinals, starring on their great 1930s "Gashouse Gang" teams. Even worse, the Dodger general manager, Branch Rickey, used to be the general manager of the Cardinals.

Back in 1917, the Cardinals were a second class team in their own town, trailing the St. Louis Browns in revenue and popularity. Branch Rickey took over as General Manager that year and built the Cardinals into the greatest team in the National League with his innovative minor league farm system. But in 1942, after a falling out with Cardinal President Sam Breadon over his contract renewal (apparently the two had a cool relationship over the years, though with mutual respect), Rickey jumped to Brooklyn, leaving St. Louis behind (Rickey apparently was particularly upset that his contract had not been renewed even though his Cardinals had beat the Yankees and won the World Series that season). The chasm between the Dodgers and Cardinals was deep and wide. Jackie Robinson was not just Dodger black, he was also Dodger blue, in the face of Cardinal anger, a Cardinal red ember.

On May 9, New York Herald Tribune writer Stanley Woodward let the baseball world know about a threatened Cardinals player strike against the Dodgers. According to Woodward, Sam Breadon was having none of it. He flew to Manhattan for an audience with National League President Ford Frick. When the meeting ended, Frick told Breadon that the would-be strikers should remember this:

"If you [strike], you will be suspended from the league. You will find that the friends you think you have in the press box will not support you. You will be outcasts. I do not care if half the league strikes. Those who do it will encounter quick retribution. All will be suspended and I don't care if it wrecks the National League for five years. This is the United States of America and one citizen has as much right to play as another.... You will find if you go through with your intention that you have been guilty of complete madness."

Woodward's story may have encouraged other team owners to pressure their players to not strike as well.

The Cardinals and the legendary St. Louis sportswriter were aghast at these accusations, arguing that while there was grumbling among a few Cardinals players, nothing had approached the level of angst described by Woodward.

What was Musial's take on the affair? He apparently confided to another Tribune writer, Roger Kahn, that the Robinson talk amongst the Cardinals was "rough and racial," but nothing worse occurred. Musial also denied the existence of any strike vote. Decades later, at a mid-90s St. Louis event promoting one of Kahn's books, Musial bizarrely found himself seated between Kahn and Broeg, who argued vehemently over the degree of anti-Robinson Cardinal fervor. Musial tried to stay above it all, but in 1997, at an event honoring the 50th anniversary of Robinson breaking the baseball color barrier, Musial argued that the Cardinals never even discussed a strike. Giglio was not so sure, and openly wonders if Musial made that statement so as not to embarrass many of his southern teammates who ended up on the wrong side of history. Regardless, Musial did tell Kahn that "he had no trouble with integration," and took the time to honor Robinson.

Despite Musial's respect for Robinson, Musial paid the price for Robinson's detractors. If a Cardinal pitcher deliberately threw at Robinson, then Durocher ordered the Dodger pitcher to retaliate by throwing at Musial. When Musial complained, Durocher apparently said, "You're the best man I know on the Cardinals. For every time [Robinson] gets one, it looks to me like you're gonna get two." Durocher felt that this kind of retaliation stopped the Cardinals cold from hurting Robinson. Cardinal manager Eddie Dyer at the time may have helped to eventually convince his players to treat Robinson fairly, as Robinson remembered his first visit to the Cardinals' stadium, Sportsman's Park, where Dyer stopped Robinson in full view of the Cardinals and said, "he was glad to see me and that he wished me luck."

Robinson said that "Musial always treated me with courtesy." In one game, enraged after being spiked by the Cardinal outfielder Enos Slaughter, Musial heard Robinson say how badly he wanted revenge. Musial allegedly told him, "I don't blame you. You have every right to do so."

Thinking about our rights is perhaps the most fitting way to end this story. The underpinning of our entire economy and way of life is embodied by the concept of a contract, a deal struck between two parties, one desiring nothing more than the meritorious services of the other, and that other desiring nothing more than a chance to ply a trade, whether to work in a coal mine, wait tables, run a major corporation, or even play baseball. When you strike a deal with someone, you generally expect it to be met, your expectations realized, and your rights fulfilled. Robinson's breakthrough season represents the true attainment of this contract right, as he fulfilled his dream to play Major League Baseball, no matter who tried to preclude his Dodger dealings.

In this vein, 1947 dissolves into 2009, leaving us with just Musial and Pujols, sitting in a car, gliding through a stadium, embraced by the Cardinal faithful, happy but perhaps unaware of the racial tensions that would make such a noble gathering inconceivable many years ago.

Assessing This Season's Virginia Tech Football Schedule For The Most Compelling Match-Ups

If you look at the 2011 Virginia Tech football schedule, you will see many familiar things but also some new things we haven't seen in recent years. In 2011 the Hokies will have their usual ACC opponents both home and on the road, including a few high profile Thursday night games. But what is lacking that we've seen in recent years is the high profile out-of-conference match-up that usually comes early in the season.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

In recent years, Virginia Tech has started the season with a high profile out-of-conference match-up. This is usually a made for TV game that is against a premier opponent that is ranked, and the game is hyped all during the off-season. Virginia Tech has played games like this against USC, LSU, Alabama, and last year Boise State. While these games create great anticipation for the season, and great motivation for the team, they have a downside (well, at least for the Hokies) in that Virginia Tech has lost most of them. This puts them in an immediate hole to begin the season.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

We don't know if this is intentional or not, but the 2011 season does not have this type of game. In fact, there is no compelling out-of-conference match-up on the schedule at all. On the contrary, the Hokies begin the season with 4 OOC opponents from 'mid-major' conferences, including a games against East Carolina, Arkansas State, Marshall, and a Div I-AA team Appalachian State. Despite being I-AA, Appalachian State is a good program who has contented for several recent national championships.

After those four opening games, the Hokies get into ACC action full swing for the rest of the season. In 2011, Virginia Tech has home games against Clemson, Miami, Boston College, and North Carolina (UNC). They are on the road in the ACC against Wake Forest, Duke, Georgia Tech, and Virginia (UVa). A closer look reveals some interesting observations.

The Hokies clearly have a favorable ACC schedule. Their toughest opponents are all at home (Clemson, Miami, BC, and UNC). The lesser opponents are on the road (Wake, Duke, and UVa). The ACC schedule lines up nicely for the Hokies in 2011.

Also, given the Hokies will be breaking in a new quarterback in 2011 (Logan Thomas will take over for graduating Tyrod Taylor), having 4 mid-major teams to open the season is certainly an advantage. This definitely gives the Hokies a chance to break in Thomas before hitting the more difficult ACC schedule.

Finally, while there is no big early season OOC match-up, there will be some big TV games for Virginia Tech this year. Specifically, the Hokies will play at Georgia Tech and at home against UNC in back to back Thursday night games in November. Virginia Tech vs UNC football tickets will be some of the most difficult to get in 2011.

2010 College Football Predictions - Georgia

2009 marked a low point during the Mark Richt era. The Bulldogs' 8-5 record was the worst in Richt's nine seasons. Georgia finished in the bottom half of the SEC in both scoring offense and defense. The defense was bad by just about any standards, causing Richt to part ways with three of his four defensive assistants. But there is reason to believe that 2010 will treat the Dawgs better. Richt is 90-27 during his stay in Athens, and wins don't pile up like that unless you're doing something right. With Tim Tebow and eight other Gators making the jump to the NFL Georgia is optimistic that it can get back to the top of the SEC East this season, but I can assure you it won't be easy. After all, Florida crushed the Dawgs 41-17 last season and the cupboard is not empty in Gainesville. The Dawgs rebounded from that loss to win four of their final five games, including a victory over Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl. That gives them some nice momentum heading into the season. Additionally, one has to think Georgia will do a better job of taking care of the football. The Bulldogs ranked last in the SEC and 118th out of 120 nationally in turnover margin a year ago.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Offense - Georgia has an offense loaded with talent and experience, but a lack of experience at the quarterback position could be what keeps the Dawgs from an SEC East title. Logan Gray is the only quarterback on Georgia's roster that has taken a snap in college, and he hasn't taken very many of them. Redshirt freshman Aaron Murray looks to be the better player and that makes him the favorite to land the starting job this fall. Growing pains are expected, but he should benefit from playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the league and from throwing to one of the best wide receivers in the country. The offensive line returns four experienced starters, including stud blindside protector Clint Boling. A.J. Green is a game-breaker, capable of getting behind the defense on any given play. He caught 53 passes for 808 yards and six scores in 2009. In order to take the pressure off of Murray, the Dawgs will go with a heavy dose of running backs Washaun Ealey and Caleb King. Ealey is coming off a 717-yard, three-touchdown season.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Defense - The Dawgs ranked No. 10 in the SEC in scoring defense, allowing 25.9 points per game. That was enough to send three defensive assistants packing. Todd Grantham of the Dallas Cowboys was hired to take over defensive coordinator duties. Georgia also brought Connecticut's Scott Lakatos and Vanderbilt's Warren Belin aboard to coach the secondary and the insider linebackers respectively. Grantham is transitioning the defense into a 3-4 scheme. He wants this unit to be the attacker, so you can count on the new scheme coming with plenty of blitz packages. Being more aggressive on defense should help the Dawgs improve some, but it will also make them susceptible to the big play. The player to watch is outside linebacker Justin Houston. He recorded 7.5 sacks last season.

Prediction - 2nd SEC East - Georgia will be a better football team in 2010, and we will get a much better feel for how much better when it plays South Carolina and Arkansas in September. Right now, Florida still looks to be a little bit ahead of the Dawgs on both sides of the football. That could change by the time these two teams meet in Jacksonville on Halloween eve, but I'm not ready to make that leap yet. Be sure to check out my 2010 SEC football predictions to see how I have the rest of the league playing out.

Premier League Match Time: Wolves Vs Birmingham

It's Premier League match time at Molineux as Wolverhapton Wanderers get set to host Birmingham city on Sunday, December 12.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Wolves are coming off a 3-0 loss away to Blackburn, match week 16. Blackburn are not the most impressive team on display and Wolves would have hoped for a better result. There has been a lot of criticism of Mick McCarthy in recent times, but in fact, he is saddled with a mediocre side, and has managed to extract some good performances from his charges this season, though the results don't show it.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

In match week 16, Birmingham had a morale boosting come-from-behind draw against Tottenham Hotspur. Birmingham have earned a reputation for their never-say-die attitude, and the game against Spurs was another display of that spirit.

After Redknapp's men dominated the first half, the Blues fought back in the second. Their persistence paid off when they got an equaliser via Craig Gardner with less than 10  minutes to go, after Spurs got an early lead on 18 minutes.

Birmingham's back-line was tested by the pace of Bale and Lennon, and Defoe was also on the ball after returning to Redknapp's squad after a two-month hiatus. But after the first goal, the City stood up to the challenge.

Wolves' loss against Blackburn has pushed them down to the foot of the points table at 20th. Birmingham are six places above them in 13th.

Wolves home form this season has seen them lose three games of eight hosted while winning three and drawing two. Birmingham's away record has been winless, with three losses and five draws in eight games on the road.

Head to head,  in all league matches between the sides, Wolves have a 55-33 advantage, in 115 meetings. That said, these sides have only met twice in the Premier League, with Birmingham winning both of those games. Their last meeting in the Premiership in February 2010 was hosted by Birmingham and the hosts prevailed 2-1.

Wolves will be hoping to use home advantage to get their campaign back on the road, but in Birmingham they are up against tough opponents who won't give anything away.

Wolves had the following players in their starting eleven against Blackburn: Hennessey, Zubar, Mouyokolo, Berra, Elokobi, Ward, Mancienne, Milijas, Foley, Doyle and Jarvis. The players who featured in the game as substitutes were eBanks-Blake and Hunt.

Birmingham's starting eleven against Tottenham comprised Foster, Carr, Johnson, Dann, Ridgewell, Gardner, Ferguson, Beausejour, Bowyer, Fahey and Jerome. The substitutes who played were Zigic, Larsson and Murphy.

Premier League Club's Debt

With the summer transfer window now open there is a hive of activity amongst the Premier League clubs. As the top clubs compete against one other to attract the big name players, the transfer fees and huge wage bills puts some of our top clubs more and more in debt. Utilising figures collated by Deloitte, we have a look at the ten clubs with the most debt in the English Premier League based on the financial year 2009-2010.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

10. Sunderland - 66 million. Not a massive debt in the grand scheme of things and does not include the 24 million that they received from the sale of Darren Bent to Aston Villa or the reported 20 million that they received from Liverpool for star player Jordan Henderson. Steve Bruce is however expected to spend the majority of this money on replacement players including Wes Brown, John O'Shea and Darron Gibson from Manchester United amongst others.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

9. Wigan - 72.5 million - A staggering fact is that Wigan spend 90% of their turnover on wages in order to compete with their Premier League rivals. Not the most fashionable club by any stretch, they have one of the lowest ticket prices in the league but still have one of the lowest average attendances. With the likes of Bolton, Man United and Man City nearby they are always going to struggle to fill their stadium. The cost of relegation for a club like Wigan would be huge so it is testament to Dave Whelan and Roberto Martinez for keeping them up.

8. Tottenham - 78.6 million - The biggest problem that Spurs have is that White Hart Lane is simply too small. It's capacity is 36,000 and to getting a ticket for a game is a mission impossible. A friend of mine is on the season ticket waiting list and is 24,000 in the queue. Tottenham can easily fill a 60,000 capacity stadium so a massive revenue opportunity is missing at the moment -this is being addressed at the moment but it can't come soon enough. The Champions League run would have brought in a lot of cash this season and there is also talk of Bale and Modric going for mega money. This will significantly reduce the debt but will be disastrous for the team as a whole.

7. Bolton - 93 million - A massive jump from the previous season of 29 million leaves Bolton in seventh place in the list. Similar to Wigan, an unfashionable club with an extremely high wage bill they need to ensure Premier League survival each year or they will be in big trouble.

6. Aston Villa - 110 million - Villa are in a interesting position due to the fact that the debt of 110 million is owed to Chairman Randy Lerner. Of course he can write off this debt but it is highly unlikely. With the sale of key players this summer (Ashley Young and possibly Stuart Downing), the debt will of course be reduced but the team will never get into Europe without the money being reinvested in quality players.

5. Arsenal - 135 million - The Arsenal strategy of investing heavily in their new stadium for long term gains in the long run whilst at the same time being extremely frugal in the transfer market seems to be working as their debt has more than halved in the space of a year. Your everyday Arsenal fan would rather see the money invested in the team and frustration is abound amongst their supporters at Wenger's reluctance to splash out on some much needed world class players.

4. Liverpool - 143 million - A vast portion of Liverpool's debts are in the form of bank loans which means that they are paying ridiculous amounts of interest. Although they received 50 million for Fernando Torres this has been spent on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. Expect the debt to increase as Kenny Dalglish restructures the entire first team in order to gain a top four spot and entry into the lucrative UEFA Champions League.

3. Fulham - 190 million - A big surprise in this list is Fulham who for a mid-table team have racked up a huge 190 million debt. There is only a finite amount of times the Mohammed Al-Fayed can bale them out and their position seems precarious as they don't have the funds to get world class players therefore always seem destined for mid-table obscurity.

2. Manchester United - 590 - This massive debt is largely due to the Glazer family who have placed their debt onto the club. Manchester United are however still the most valuable and well supported club in the world and their achievements this season will have helped the coffers. Sir Alex Ferguson has seen 3 key players retire this season so he will no doubt be using some of the money from the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer for replacements. The financial pressure to maintain their success is huge as their interest payments on their debt runs into millions.

1. Chelsea - 733 million - Whilst this debt is huge it is not as bad as Manchester United's as the majority of it is owed to Roman Abramovich. This means that unlike Man Utd, they don't have to pay millions back in interest. Not the best of business models but at the same time not the worst.

Why You Should Be a Nurse

Becoming a nursing assistant may not appeal much to the modern youngsters these days. If they want to work in the medical field, they prefer to be doctors instead of just a lowly nurse. However, being a nursing assistant's career may not be as lowly as one would think. There are plenty of benefits that might attract anyone into becoming a nurse.

nursery furniture

Working as a nursing assistant will give you a chance to explore the vast and complex world of medicine. Being a nurse is not limited to only administering shots and dressing wounds. You'll have to know how to read measurements of a patient's vitals, such as the ECG, blood pressure and the like. You have to operate medical machinery, such as the MRI machine and the CAT scan. You have to be detailed in your note-keeping and monitoring of patients.

NURSE

Once you've progressed from being a nursing assistant to a nurse, more responsibilities will be bequeathed to you. You'll have to assist doctors in surgical operations, which incidentally is more than just swabbing the doctor's sweaty forehead. A nurse will have to be responsive and efficient to ensure that an operation goes smoothly and efficiently.

Choosing a nursing assistant career can also help you in your public relations skills. A nurse does more than just taking care of a patient's physical well-being. He or she also addresses the patient's mental health. This requires plenty of communication. You'll have to know how to persuade a child to take his medicine. You'll have to find a way to convince a patient from leaving the hospital when he still needs medical attention.

As you advance from nursing assistant to nurse, you'll find that your skill base has grown. This is mostly due to the fact that you have to address the needs of the doctors and facilitate every patient according to his or her individual requirements. You'll find that you've become a brilliant multi-tasker and PR person. And this is why you should be a nurse.

English Premier League's Worse Foreign Transfers

After being deemed surplus to requirements at Atletico Madrid, Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan is expected to try his luck in the Premier League once more after a previous unsuccessful spell with Manchester United between 2002 and 2004. It is fact that some continental players cannot cope with the physical demands of the English Premier League and also struggle to adjust to the weather, lifestyle and culture. We have listed a few "superstar" players who came to play in the Premier League and ultimately went back with tail between legs.

sons of anarchy season 3 premiere

Diego Forlan - Joined Manchester United in 2002 from Argentinian side Independiente and only managed to score 17 goals in 95 appearances for the Premier League champions. This statistic paled in comparison to fellow striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy's tally of 150 goals in 210 appearances and Forlan was soon offloaded to Spain when Wayne Rooney joined the club in 2004.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Winston Bogarde - Often ridiculed by fans of English football, Bogarde took full advantage of his lucrative contract at Chelsea by refusing to leave the club even though he was reduced to playing with the reserves and even the youth teams. He eventually saw out his contract and subsequently retired from playing when it expired - he was on a reported £40,000 per week!

Juan Sebastian Veron - When Manchester United shelled out a then English transfer record of £28.1 million many people thought that they were getting a genuine world class superstar. Unfortunately Veron couldn't handle the pace of the Premiership and wasn't allowed the time and space he was used to and he was often very ineffective in games. United were lucky to recoup £15 million for Veron from Chelsea 2 years later but he was ineffective there too and after spending 2 seasons on loan abroad he moved back permanently.

Hernan Crespo - A prolific scorer wherever he played, Crespo found himself in South London with Chelsea in 2003 after signing from Inter Milan for £16.8 million. When Jose Mourinho took over as Chelsea manager in 2004 he was loaned out to AC Milan, then returned back to Chelsea, then loaned out again to Inter Milan. Although Crespo scored 20 goals in 49 appearances he never fully adapted to the English game and is subsequently regarded as a transfer flop.

Jon Dahl Tomasson - After being selected for the award of Best Dutch Talent in 1996 whilst at Heerenveen, Tomasson was in high demand and eventually chose to join Newcastle United to form, what then manager Kenny Dalglish said would be a perfect partnership with Alan Shearer. Although the partnership started well, Shearer got injured and Tomasson was played out of position as a striker instead of attacking midfielder. He wasn't comfortable with this new role and his performances were well below par. He ended up scoring 4 goals in 35 appearances for the Toon before returning to Holland with Feyenoord where his career was revitalised and he ended up as one of the best players in his position in Europe.

Tomas Brolin - After impressing for Sweden at Euro 92 and the World Cup in 1994, Brolin signed for Leeds United in 1995 from Italian side Parma. He was expected to make a huge impact but unfortunately this never came to fruition as a fallout with then manager Howard Wilkinson about his defensive abilities and the fact that he didn't pull his weight meant that he spent a lot of time on the subs bench. After a farcical couple of years where he went to FC Zurich and Parma on loan and also joined Crystal Palace, Brolin retired from football at the age of 29 and has since held the accolade of the worse signing in the history of Leeds United.

Andrei Shevchenko - Arguably the best striker in the world at the turn of the new century, Shevchenko left AC Milan for Chelsea with a record of 173 goals in 296 games for £30.8 million. An indifferent spell in West London resulted in the player netting 9 times in 43 games over a 3 year spell. He spent a year back at AC Milan which was also unsuccessful and he ultimately ended up back at his first club Dinamo Kiev.

Sergei Rebrov - Shevchenko's Dinamo Kiev strike partner signed for Tottenham Hotspur for £11 million in June 2000 but never realy shone and a return of 10 goals in 60 appearances for the club resulted in him getting shipped out on loan to Fenerbache. He then returned to England with West Ham and had another poor spell only scoring once in 27 games before returning back to the Ukraine with Kiev.

Women and the Corporate Ladder: Documenting the Journey

When it comes to climbing the corporate ladder, women not only need to be on top of their game but they also need to watch their backs. As we all know, there are sour grapes in every bunch of people we work with. Some of these backstabbers try to either overtly or covertly sabotage you, especially if they see you constantly succeeding. And not all of them are your peers. They can be your bosses, too!

nurse jackie season 2

Think of your first interview. Did you check the company out as much as they checked you out? Probably. But what happens when you're up for review? A superior sits on a throne in his office, grading you on your efforts. The important thing to remember is even at these intervals, it's important that YOU keep reviewing the company as well to be sure you're getting what you want out of the deal.

NURSE JACKIE

YOUR Company Review Counts

Take a look at Jackie, who worked in a two-person office for a large corporation. She was subject to these reviews. Her boss - another woman - was not the warmest person: imagine a slightly less terse Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest! Jackie endured as much as she could, decided to take an assertiveness training course, then asked her boss for a meeting to discuss her concerns. Her boss explained her side of the story, apologizing for her coldness and lack of communication and support for her on the job. She thought Jackie was doing very well. Jackie breathed a huge sigh of relief. From now on things would be different.

WRONG!

When Jackie's first-ever formal review arrived, her boss graded her incredibly low on everything. On some items, she was marked at a zero. Jackie felt humiliated and angry at the same time. All this after she had done nothing but her best at work, plus taking great pains to learn to be more assertive. She fumed, "What was the point of the meeting they'd had?"

Document Your Interactions With Your Colleagues, Peers, and Superiors

There are many women who have done all the right things at work, but those nasty backstabbers twist and turn things so it looks like they haven't. Now in Jackie's case, there wasn't much she could do since she worked in a two-person office. But in larger companies, there are more people and more opportunities for some of those people to make it hard for you to get ahead.

If you have any kind of negative interactions with people - even positive ones that feel a little uncomfortable - trust your gut. There is likely some kind of jealously or otherwise malicious intent behind them. If things come to a head, and you need to take the matter to your boss or a committee, it will be your word against the perpetrators. If you've documented everything, you're in a good position.

You don't have to be fanatical about it; just keep a little notebook with you to record the date, time, person, and incident(s) just to be on the safe side. You never know when something may happen, even when you think things are going great. Stay aware so you have everything you need in the way of evidence should a situation like this come up.

The rise up the corporate ladder should be fun, exhilarating, and ultimately rewarding. In most cases, it is. By keeping notes along the way (both good and bad), you'll have all the necessary documentation you need to weather the journey to the top!
