Aston Villa v West Ham

Villa will be hoping this time will be third time lucky as far as qualifying for the champions league, the fact remains that they need to spend money on quality players that can propel them from 6/7th each season to 4th and they may need to break the bank to do this. Several players are not European grade such as Agbonlahor.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE

Aston Villa have been draw specialists at home in the past few seasons however i expect them to start the season with a Win against West Ham United.

Prediction 2-1

Blackburn Rovers v Everton

Under Sam Allardyce Rovers have been a tough cookie at home and that what they are all about, holding the likes of Man United and beating Arsenal at the end of the Season. They will hope for another top ten finish with an outside chance of getting into the Europa League.

Everton are a very good team and continue to build at snail pace each season however having a nack of keeping talents such as Pienaar and Arteta, they will be there or there about near the european places.

Blackpool v Wigan Athletic

Blackpool have over-achieved and have reached the land of Milk and Honey. I do not expect them to spend much as they know whats coming, however i would not be suprised if they win this north west match.

Wigan or Jeckal and Hyde, either way they have some good players that turn up some weeks and not others, expect this to continue under Roberto Martinez.

Bolton v Fulham

Owen Coyles first full season and i believe it will be in a good one for Bolton, he looks like another Moyes sort of manager and likes his team to play the ball on the ground. If they can get wilshere back on loan and recruit several players they will be fine.

Fulham had a fantastic season 09/10 unfortunantly they will not replicate, its a blue moon scenario and another mid table finish is on the cards and maybe a league cup run.

Chelsea v West Brom

League and Cup Champions says it all, quality internationals in each position. Will have another good season under a good manager. Champions league will be more important this time though and they will buy the players that they need to do it, expect them to pull up trees this year.

West Brom will need to batten down the hatches and ride the storm, 5-5-0 formation is in order as a draw is the best that they can hope for. Difficult season ahead, Di Matteos credentials will be tested.

Liverpool v Arsenal

Anfield is on its last legs in more ways than one, the stadium needs changing, the team is a benitez product which the majority of are not fit to wear the shirt and the owners hate each other. Poison chalice for any new manager, needs a strong charachter who can get cheap quality transfers/loanees in as Liverpool do not have money to spend. Torres could make way and this would end any league or european hopes for the forseeable future.

Arsenal are growing up, but not at the rate required, they now know they need to add a few experienced heads to an otherwise talented bunch of young guys, Chamackh has come in however he is untested in a big league and time will tell. Expect another nearly season and possible cup win.

Prediction 2-2

Manchester United v Newcastle United

3 or 4 players enter there last season.. Giggs, Scholes, Neville and Van Der Sar. Its fair to say they have done there bit and can rest easy when the boots and tied for the last time. So whats for the future of United.. As all big clubs they have big debts to match and despite selling Cristiano Ronaldo it appears they do not have 100million to spend. Vidic is rumoured to leave and others need selling, i.e Berbatov.

Wholesale changes are needed and a striker is needed, i suspect Benzema will be a United player this summer.

Newcastle have bounced straight back an belong in the top flight, big stadium with a big fan base. The team is ok and i back them to stay up but they will need to add a few new faces in order to do so.
