The Top 5 Midfielders in the English Premier League This Season

This year's Premier League season has arguably been the best ever (so far), and that's partly down to the amazing midfield talent that has been on display this year. I've outline my five top midfielders of the season so far:

1. Cesc Fabregas - Arsenal's inspirational skipper has had another fine season yet again, and it is no surprise that rumours have found their way into the newspapers that Barcelona are preparing a £50m bid for the Arsenal player.

2. Darren Fletcher - The so called 'water carrier' of the Manchester United team, Fletcher has proved that he can play just as well as some of the bigger names in the league.

3. Nigel De Jong - De Jong is the definition of a solid defensive midfielder. Currently playing at Manchester City, De Jong has shown that you don't have to be a technically gifted footballer to become a top player in the game.

4. James Milner - Milner has shown this season that he's an extremely versatile player (playing in no less than six positions this year) and has exceeded when and wherever he's played. Milner seems to get better each week, and has really developed his game since his move from Newcastle a couple of seasons ago.

5. Jimmy Bullard - Hull's inspirational talisman hasn't played as many games as he (or the fans) would have liked this season, but when he has played he's been nothing short of brilliant. What Jimmy brings to the team (apart from quality ball playing) is his very presence on the pitch seems to make things happen. Because of this, it seems that he may be in for a shock call-up to Fabio Capello's England squad.
